Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of the Cyprus Association of Opinion Poll & Market Research Enterprises (SEDEAK) 1. The companies voluntarily participating in the Association of Cypriot Opinion & Market Research Companies are those whose main activity is market and opinion research. 2. The Association’s members commit to conduct their activities with absolute impartiality, in compliance with the highest scientific standards and specifications as defined by ESOMAR (European Society of Opinion & Market Research). 3. In case their research is published, the Association’s members commit to preserve and consolidate the confidence of both the public opinion and their clients regarding the integrity of the market research companies through each of their professional activity. 4. The Association’s members commit to disclose the research’s identity, including the client’s name, the methodology applied, the population definition, the time frame and the data collection method, the weighting method and any other information deemed necessary for the research’s reliability. 5. The Association’s members commit to preserve the participants’ identity and personal data and shall not disclose the questionnaires or any recorded, filmed or other material used during the research to anyone, except with the participants’ written consent. 6. The Association’s members commit to protect the interests of the client for whom the research is conducted and clearly dissociate the research’s findings from their own personal estimations. 7. The Association’s members commit to agree with the client on the terms governing the final research product (results, analysis etc.) that shall be delivered. 8. The Association’s members commit to agree in advance with the client on the terms governing the publication of the results which shall ensure the research’s reliability. 9. The Association’s members commit to correct and moral business practices, to the promotion of fair competition and to the spirit of collaboration to the profession’s benefit. 10. The Board of Directors of the Association of Cypriot Opinion & Market Research Companies is responsible for monitoring the application of the present code and investigating any accusation on behalf of persons with legal interests. |
